i have found that i can easily take textures from other games like mohaa and wolfenstein and place them into cod and use them, is there a similar way to exchange xmodels and all? i kind of want to get several of the trucks from wolfenstein, some jets from wolfenstein, a few aircraft from mohaa, some vehicles and artillery and aa from mohaa and i want use them in cod. is there like a program or anything to do this or can i just copy the files over?

it's unlikely. If you can get the equivalent of xmodelexport for the other games you might be able to, but the compiled in the other games versions will have incompatable bones and tags, or use different texturing methods - split normal, light, alpha and bump maps etc. I don't have cod2 anymore, but I remember that even that used a different modelling system - shame, because i wanted to swipe the trenchgun from it [devilishgrin]

moviestar said something about a program that can decompile cod2 models so they can be opened in milkshape. I can't remember what thread it was, but i think it's in the uo mapping section somewhere. You'll still have to create anims and probably remap the skins though

It would be possible to convert Mohaa models etc and put them into cod but not directly.... you would have to decompile the model then add the bones so that cod can read them, possibly you would have to remap the skins also.

So the answer to your question is ..... No you cannot just take models from one game and put them into another without having decent knowledge of 3d modeling and it is impossible to do without it.

And if anyone wants any cod2 models exporting into cod1/coduo give me a shout as its easy peasy :D (animations are a pain but just normal models are 30 min job)

Moviestar:

If you don't mind explaining, I'd be interested in knowing what goes into an animation that makes it so complicated. I know that it is complicated from reading these forums, but I don't know anything about modeling in general, and I'm curious.

i wouldn't mind having the flora models being converted to cod xmodels if anyones got the time for it.

are there any indepth tutorials for milkshape? The tellermine one is alright, but it talk about bones, tags, animation or much about vertex manipulation
