Arrgh!

This is driving me nuts! I have been trying to get a custom sound to work for an elevator that I have put in a map and cannot for the life of me figure out why the CSV file is coming up with an error.

The CSV file is in the maps/mp folder and contains:

Code:
name,sequence,file,vol_min,vol_max,vol_mod,pitch_min,pitch_max,dist_min,dist_max,channel,type,probability,loop,masterslave,loadspec,subtitle,compression,secondaryaliasname,volumefalloffcurve,startdelay,speakermap,reverb,lfe percentage
elevatorsound,,elevator.wav,1,,,,,2,700,auto,streamed,,,,mp_copsarena,,,,,,,,

The elevator.wav file is in the same folder.

I have tried copying and changing CSV files from other maps and it just keeps happening!

Any ideas?

The error that I am getting is:

key 'elevatorsound' missing value in 'maps/mp/mp_copsarena.csv'

is it in the proper location?

that would be why

have a look at the adding sounds / custom sounds tutorial in the cod2 tut section

also have a look at the stock iwd files to see the proper folder structure

OK, I opened up another IWD file that contains custom sounds and had a look at the structure. I'll try mimicking this in my folder structure tonight:

Call of Duty 2
+-main
---+-- maps
-------+-- mp
---+-- soundaliases
---+-- sound
-------+-- misc

I'll drop the wav file in the sound/misc folder and the CSV file in soundaliases.

Hopefully, this will sort me out.

(I'm posting this so that i remember what I have to do!)

Quick thought....

In the Modsonline Bible, the folder in the sounds folder is named "ambient", not "misc". May or may not matter![read]

There are 2 or three types of folders to go into the sound/misc folder... If you have a custom ambient sound, you would want to put it in a folder called ambient and reference ambient in your csv code...

ClanConDev, did you ever get this sorted, because I'm having a similar problem after following the COD Elevator tut. Maybe it isn't right for COD2? I don't get the errors, the sound just doesn't play.
