Hello all;

I can not seem to find a solid and un-confusing answer to this question.

Is anyone willing to write up a complete directory structure for an IWD? That would include the map, minimap, radarmap and all other required files?

The reason I ask is I have a map ready to be released but wanted to compile it into one single iwd, since downloading two files for a map sucks hahaha. I have been out of the mapping for quite a while so I am trying to refresh myself on all of this again and this is one thing I have been fighting with for a few hours now. This would be a great help to everyone.

I agree....would love to see exactly what we need to release a final map...and where to put it all to play it....cuz I would make an installer to help out people.

You don't put maps in the iwd's, only the minimaps and some little things go in those. the rest of the stuff goes into the fast files.

It's usually three, one is only ever 1kb though so I wouldn't complain.

id imagine making an iwd or something simular would be possible...
i hope..... fast files are insanely annoying.

i made a map, and no idea how to make it work on a server...

I got that far,

Make a folder called usermaps and put that on your server,

Mines in the directory:

cod4/

Alongside your mods, main folders etc

Inside make another folder yourmapname ie:

mp_yourmapname

Inside thats folder you want your maps ff files,

mp_yourmapname.ff
mp_yourmapname_load.ff

and you will need an iwd in that folder

mp_yourmapname.iwd

inside that is similer to cod2 with the arena files and csv's etc and loadscreen files etc, even though I still hav'nt got my loadscreens to work yet[sniper]

Would you rather let people at your source files when you make mods? mkay. The iwd's have some benefits...you dont need to rebuild it when you edit your mod

yes, i want people to have access to source files, every1 should
whats the point of not.... its not like your selling the mods.....

wierd people... restricting others from things to help each other....
your a wierdo [biggrin][biggrin]

that mentality is very selfish....

i love if people where to take something i made and make it better, or change it to however they like it... why not?

cause Ohh law-de-da its my files jerk! you no touchie!

I downloaded the mp_subway map via autodownload when I was connecting to a server, and there was a .iwd file!
After downloading, I had 3 files in /cod4 modern warfare/usermaps/mp_subway:
mp_subway.ff, mp_subway_load.ff and mp_subway.iwd.
This is the structure of the .iwd file:
4 folders:
*) images -> 2 files: compass_map_mp_subway.iwi and loadscreen_mp_subway.iwi
*) maps-> 1 file: mp_subway.csv
*) materials-> 2 files: compass_map_mp_subway and loadscreen_mp_subway
*) multiplayer-> 1 file: mp_subway.arena

But there's one strange thing: after I played some custom maps, I had troubles with my stats, so I removed the custom map folders. After that I played on another server with custom maps, incuding mp_subway, so I had to download it again. But now there was no .iwd file, only 2 .f files [confused]
I'm not sure, but I think the first map may have been the beta map [crazy]
