Hey, I was looking around in the sample mp_matmata map and I noticed that alot of the buildings and setpiece areas have been prefabbed and locked together--you can "enter" the prefab from the dit menu after you've selected it. It's a damn cool idea, i just don't get how the prefabs are saved. They're no longer pfb's, but now instead they're .maps. IW said a while back that you'd have full prefab functionality from cod to cod2--anybody know how to pull up old prefabs (is it really basic and straight forward, am i just being stupid)? or is it a little more complicated.

btw kudos to iw on the whole prefab system, it is really really really really cool and will be a big help (even more that layers) in the long run.

A prefab is just a .map file renamed to .pfb. So.. rename it back to a .map and use "Load" to load the new .map file into your coD2 Radiant.

Is there some magical way to select the entire prefab, or do you have to manually select every brush and model from the prefab?

Put a brush over it and in 2d, leftclick and go to "Select->Inside"

There's also a misc>prefab i think something like that from the right click drop down menu. im playing with it right now--i think it works with func_groups to properly define prefabs (i.e., if you look at the matmata sample, you can select an entire prefabbed building by just clicking one brush).

hi, when i solve one problem of the editor, another is waiting for me [banghead]

Now i have a problem with prefabs. when i press enter prefab or leave prefab, nothing happens [confused]

Is there supposed to be a pop up or whatever? or does anybody know how i can fix this problem. cause i am really thinking of throwing the editor out of the window [sniper][mad]

if you make a house and want to use it as a prefab save it as a blahhh.map file in a new folder in the prefabs folder (call the folder my prefabs)

to use that prefab later in a map right click in grid goto misc prefab look in your new folder and select your prefab it will act a bit like an entity you can select the whole thing with one click
