In the current map I'm working on I have spent some time getting the ambience to look right.
So how does this look to you, close enough?
It is using a fairly heavyish xpfog & light rain.
Ps this was only -fast flare, looks even better with -extra.

Looking good, gives it a sort of Splinter Cell feel, an if you dont mind me asking, what level sounds are you gonna use to go with these lighting effects?

Hehe, thanks mate. Not sure yet about the ambient sound, any suggestions?

Grassy, I'd either go for an up-tempo "assault" tune, or the ambient noise from that winter mission in MOHAA SP, if you don't have, I can rip it from MOHAA for ya :P

That winter mission from spearhead would be perfect i think, as for indoor or even an outdoor combined sound - how about a factory ambient, i remember some great sound effects in the old MOHAA series - how about checking the one from the last level of AA i think it was FORT WHATEVER - lol memory is no good today [thumbs_up]

lol, when I said "MOHAA SP" I Meant MOHAA SinglePlayer, lol. I think that ambient track would be perfect. I get teh shivers down my spine whenever I play that map.

Hey if you're going for that really ddark and damp and quiet feel of Splinter Cell (as someone up there said) you should try shortening up all those lights and bringing the nodes a little closer. Try and make the light hit the walls but not the floor, it looks really cool when the level feels well lit all around but down on the ground its dark. I'm working on a map like that right now--uneven lighting can really change the feel of a map [thumbs_up]


addition - for example, i would probably light that staircase like crazy, and maybe even the wall, but i would cut the lights down the walkway so that it feels like a corner alley you know?
