Lo All

Does any body know how i can find out how many vertices are on a patch mesh.

I have loads of different types, from cyclinders to bevels .etc

And i wanted to know if theres a way i could select a peice and find out how many vertices it contains.

This is because i am getting Max Verts Error on my map so i need to cut down and want to select bevels and stuff and see if i can cut down on trying to build the shape out of brushs.

Also does any body know what the max vertices are that your allowed to use on your map.

This is the error i got:

Building flare's bsp from all polygons...
maxverts(4194304) exceeded, 6 seconds remaining

Map info:

Hi Ric, does it mean that the max is actually 4194304 and that you have exceeded that.

But not actually telling by how much?

ye as far as i can understand 4194304 is how much i am using.

Im guessing the limit is probly about 40,000,000

lol, hmm 40 million. if thats right then thats a hell of alot

I believe its actually 4,000,000 ricsta ;)


and you have 4,194,304




I dont think you can count the number of verts on a selection though. I must say however, thats a hell of a lot of verts. What complex shapes do you have in your map?

How dense are you making everything??? On large maps, terrain mesh much over 5x5 or 7x7 is pushing it. It is best to do larger, less dense terrain in general and then do spot work of higher density. Can you remove some rows/columns from some pieces without sacrificing 'quality'?? That would be the first place to start. Next is to eliminate excess mesh work. Anything out of play though is where I would start to thin things out.

Lo all

@Devil - ye sorry 4 million then, i thought 40 was a bit much, lol

@Slyk - lo mate, u always seem to appear when i got questions, lol

K well i dont really have anythink i can lower the density on, i only got like curved patch mesh really, i dont think theres any terrain at all in my map.

Heres some shots of the map from radiant, might as well let u all have a look why ya here, see if u got any suggestions, u can see all the curves that i have used.

Now THAT is a map.

I'm thinking you'll have ot sacrafice some of those curves, but I could always be wrong.

what is your percentage of structural vs. detail brushes?

Wow I know this isnt the map release section But Ricsta can you post some compiled pics in the map release section and my god man thats a lot of verts!!!! Talk about pushing the engine to the limit.

Hey I dont know if you just havent done it yet or not but that one long tunnel with all the lights tell me your going to use spotlights in it.

Sweet looking map...once again sorry iknow this isnt the map release section.

some places to cut the verts.... those walkway bridge to the sub.. they are curved??? as a seafarer i can tell you if they curved like that we scrap them.. unsafe !!!!maybe you can remove the calble of the lights.. also a not done practise on indoor electric wires..... further i would say .. comeon release this map.. it looks sweet !!!!!!!
