Ive tried searching the forums for same related problems as i have, but the topics that ive found havent really given me any good answers.

So here goes: How do i weld multiple entities to each other? I know that if i press "W" it should weld them together, but i only get "Can't connect to the world"? Is there any options or button i should have selected before pressing "W", and if so, where can i find it?

Another thing that would help me greatly, is how do i select a whole area of entities instead of just clicking "alt" on each entity, which is really time consuming if you are working on smaller peices or wanna delete whole sections of entities. Id be very happy if someone could help me out as it would really help my work

Thanks.

Please explain what your objective is with welding entities together. From what you are saying, it sounds as if you are trying to weld brushes, which is not something you really need to do. If you need to butt terrain up again the brush press 'v' then you can weld the vertices (dots) together.

The easiest way to select many entities (or any map elements for that matter) is to draw a brush around them all then going

selection -> select -> select inside

Ah yes, i should have explained a little better. I want to weld the brushes (boxes) together so that they make one large piece instead of just 10 pieces.

If they are the right shape, with no concave faces, you can CSG merge them. Ctrl-U, I think

i have had good sucsess with the "weld" feature.

i take it you have got this far, but if not here it is

select your brush (hold+shift) then click on top of radiant (patch) then (simple terain patch)

then select 15x15 this will give it some good detail, if you have not done this by now,

next select your next brush and do the same as above make sure your brushes are side by side

next in your 2d window press"v" and you will see the dots,

in 2d window or 3d window you can left click and hold, while dragin over the blue dots you wish to "weld" and press "w"

hope it helps

I also have a quick question about welding.

I have a script_brushmodel and a use/touch trigger.

When I trigger the object, the brushmodel moves the way I want it to but the triggers get left behind.

(I'm creating an elevator and need the switch to move up/down with the elevator so I can keep using it while inside the elevator regardless of height/floor.)

I have tried welding, and it does so (targets the script_brushmodel), but still gets left behind when I activate the trigger. Is there a scriptable way to attatch the switch to the elevator, where it is lined up in the radiant? (ie: switch bind elevator); something like that?

Thanks for any reply.
