Allright, i'm 15% finished with my map of Omaha Beach, i'm asking you guys a few questions:

1.- How can I make a higgins boat to open it's door and blow the whistle?, I want my soldiers to jump out of the boat by the sides when they arrive to the beach, How can I do that?

2.- How can I make the machine guns to quickly fire at you like in Medal of Honor Allied Assault?

3.- Oh and how can I make some Allied soldiers invincible and how can I put them unique or custom names?

That's all of the questions for now, I already know how to make reflective and drownable water, and the bunkers.

Any help will be appreciated.

im not sure about the last to but the first one, you cant open the doors. what you CAN do though is use either tools or entities to make your player hop over the edge of the boat. you could make it crash and maybe even explode and then make all the players get out. to make it crash i think you use trigger_damage to make it blow up.

If the higgins boat is a model, then it is impossible to open the door, but if you download a prefab or make your own higgins craft out of brushes then you can make the door a script>brushmodel and do it that way.

With the mg's, just have some AI mger's up on the hill or something so they will aim at you when the door goes down.

I know that it is possible to make some soldiers invincible, and I know it is also possible to give actors specific names. I think it's a key of "friendlyname" or something like that, with a value of whatever you want their name to be. I saw it in the basic ai scripting tut I think. For the invincibility, look in a sp map's .gsc file and find it in there, I'm sure you'd find out how it's done.

Thanks for the reply guys, so what tools do I need so my higgins boat can open the doors, I saw that in the lvl of Pointe du Hoc, Oh and one last question... how can I make those "shellshock" moments in the game.

if you could make them sail in, then blow up then pass out, and wake up with a destroyed higgins boat. then let him just crawl out. I have no clue how to get a shellshock effect. if you were really despirate, you could contact Activision or Infinity Ward, which ever did the actual constructing.

I've looked through the duhoc .gsc file, and they've scripted it. It's pretty complicated, but if you look in iw_07 then you'll find the duhoc gsc file in the maps folder.

Bumpy Bump.


Ok I found only 2 models of the higgins boat...

one is called vehicle_higgins_vm
the other one is called vehicle_higgins

What is the difference between the 2, and I found out how to do a good shellshock moment!, but I still don't know how to open the doors of the higgins.

I don't know the difference... add them and see for yourself.

As for the doors opening.. that's done through scripting. Take a look at a stock level with the higgins in it to see how they did it.
