there are lots of tutorials on the left hand side.. Not muich on modding though, because it's really difficult to write a modding tutorial, because you can do so much with scripting.
I suggest reading some of the scripting tutorials and familiarise yourself with the scripting language. Read scripts and try to understand what happens where. Alos download mods like AWE, open them up and try to figure out how they work.

Compiling a mod into a .pk3 file.. you can do that with Pakscape. there is a "howto" tutorial on creating a .pk3 file in the CoD section.

I've never read a scripting tutorial (didn't know they existed), but I've been able to write/alter a few scripts successfully just by staring at the game's scripts for a long enough period of time. So, you probably can make some things work without knowing exactly what you're doing. That said, investing some time in the tutorials on this site sounds like a solid idea. [thumbs_up]

I've found that the best way to learn modding in general (the best way for me, anyway) is to crack open someone else's mod and have a look around after you've tried the mod in-game. Getting at least a vague sense of what each individual file does is essential. If you're willing to put the time in, testing and retesting, things will start to click pretty quickly, depending on what you're trying to do.

If you have a specific idea for a mod already, post it here. Between Caretaker and myself, we might be able to tell you what kinds of things you'll need to do to make it work.
