I've read through all the posts about rainbow colors on the characters, but I think I may have a new one...
In my new map, players have been experiencing a type of rainbow effect that acts like looking through a prizm... You know how they always do lightpeed in sci-fi movies? Yeah, it is like that. The rainbow colors don't cover the entire screen and they don't appear for very long. they change as you move your crosshairs. They come and go and not everyone sees them. This is the only problem I've had with the new map, except for some minor light leaks beneath walls that are flush with the ground. I have a sealed skybox, only 9 lights, and I've used wordspawn settings from this site that were attributed to a stock COD2 map. Not sure what the problem is or where to start... Thanks in advance.
If you want to see this first hand, our COD2 server is on 74.52.112.171:28960 and the Map is GOB Colloseum.

The_Caretaker writes...Quote: you say it happens on some players and not on others... always the same players, or do some pleyers sometimes have that effect on the map and sometimes not?
Also... did you already try the mp_grid tutorial? It might well fix this problem.
It seems to happen to the same guys, but we haven't been able to spot something easy. Some are running DX9 and other DX7. Stranger yet, it didn't do this when I was testing the map on my PC. It started when we started running the map on multiplayer from the server. This is the only map where this happens though. Those who experience it will see it at least once per rotation.
I did read the mp_grid tutorial... What does it do? I will give it a try for sure... |

It sounds like mt former problem but I could see it in radient too.
What I did to fix it was to delete the script brushmodel that the light was coming from and deleted the small box it was linked to (don't know how else to explain it.)
Like I said though, I could see it in radient so...
Maybe you can figure out where it's coming from in the map and delete that brush/model. That's all I can say to help.

I appreciate your time... I don't have any brushmodels in that map that I know of (no elevators or teleporters). Only guns that respawn.. I think the wierd thing is that it doesn't do it from my computer when I devmap it. It happens to everyone on our server though.. I think it may be a duplicate plane issue. I have used the cutting tool to shape a lot of the brushes, and I'm afraid it may have created some glitches. There are no duplicate brushes, so unless someone has a bright idea, I'm stuck with these flashes of light... |
