I'm about one third of the way done my map and I just added something to it so I want to test it out. However, the map doesn't seem to stop compiling. I had it going for 30+ minutes but the DOS window didn't close like it normally does and nothing came up in the small window at the bottom of the window saying how long compiling time was.

What is strange is before I added what I did, the compiling time was about a minute and a half. It's not like I added on a ton of stuff but just some more brushes. Any solution to this because I'd really like to test out what I finished so far.

If you have added lights recently that may be the cause of a long compile time. If it has to compile all the shadows of objects. but if lights are not the issue than i dont know how to help

[ohwell] I didn't add any more lights... so it probably isn't that. Thanks for trying to help though.

sounds like isn't not compiling completely....(not finishing)

check your skybox, maybe somthing got added outside of it or is poking thru it.

Another thought, if you haven't changed to much stuff, try going back to the last save .map , and redo your new changes.... see what happens.

See, so far the map is one big room with no windows (it's an arena in case you are wondering) so I don't have a sky at the moment. I already checked to see if there were things outside the room but found nothing.

I may just do what you said and see if it works then.

you must have three things to compile,

You must have a skybox.....you do have that right?

If you mean a box around the room with the blue 'Sky' texture and a sky selected, then no. I haven't used one in the other times I compiled it to see if it was working fine. I thought you only needed one if you had an area that was outside (or even looking through a window to an unaccesible outdoor area)

actually wrong,
you do not need a skybox as Shotguns_Rooms prove, map file included, you need a box formed by brushes that complete a room, the room can have hallways that leed to other rooms, all must be structure and anything inside can be detail brushes

Anyway, I redid what I added (since its an arena, I had to add seats, instead of individual ones I did benches, just a few small rows) and it worked this time.
