how would i make a compass mod server side so that everyone on there could see it and not just me?

Depends on what you want..

ik you want to make a custom compass (different graphics etc) the mod HAS to be client sided, because everything none stock, like graphics, has to be downloaded by the clients.

Like the caretaker sayed.....
If you would that other users CAN use your compase, then your server must be configured to allow user_downloads. Place your file in a pk3 and if your server has enable this download option, ohter people CAN use your compass
