AWESOME IT WORKED!!!!!!!! luckily for me I had saved my map about half way through building it!!! i'm so happy right now.

i install latest DX9, latest video card program (eng XD) and latest net framework. it still doesn't work. now i send mail. i wish i will have luck. (nooo, i can't write in eng [moon] )

[banghead] you know ive just gone from one problem to another with this map making. I get a problem and then i look it up in these forums(which is fantastic)fix that problem and then get another. i just cant win[sad] the amount of time ive spent searching and fixing problems i couldve made a working map by now. oh well the search and fix problems mission continues and maybe one day it just might work[evil] p.s people who have had there problems fixed dont forget to let us know how you fixed it as for people like me its a great help.[sniper]

Im trying to make an .gsc file but when i save it it becomes an textfile again..WTF is wrong...

Open Windows Explorer
Go to Tools->Folder Options
Tab "view"
UNcheck "hide extentions for known filetypes".

thanks caretaker. this is the proplem i am having at the moment. to understand where i am. i downloaded the video by foyleman "getting started with mapping" . i have followed every step set out in the video. when i go to run the map from the compile tools menu it starts loading then comes up with a "script error check console" and the following is what the console says (my maps name is foyle also)

thanks preacher but i believe i have found the problem. in my gsc file i had

main() {
maps\mp\_load::main():
}

then i saw a post that said do it like this

main() {
maps\mp\_load::main();
}

i changed the last : to a ; and it worked. tested it 5 times and it worked evrytime. yeha thanks Modsonline and the people who have helped me. Will this gsc file work for everymap u make or is more wording in it needed for bigger different maps?
