Hey, ive been thinking about what the next generation of fps games would be like. and to me it could be someting like a combination of stategy games( like close combat, dunno if yall know that game but its great) and fps games. what would you think about a game where all the players would be assigned to battlegroups of 2 to 8 men with specific equipment, and someone( a strategy freak) would have a 2d or 3d above view of the battlefield and would give orders to these battlegroups, like "ambush" "run to" or "clear building"... but to be realistic you would need +200 players on huge maps wih realistic vehicles and that might not be for tomorrow i guess [cry] ... please give me your opnion tx

Hmm. Normally I have some helpful comments, but I doubt this one would be great.

From what I know, CoD is only capable of running something like 96 players on a server with a 100M/bit server. As for the engine, having ti run over 70 players would put so much stress on your computer too keep up with whats happening. I mean having dead zombies in SP for too long screws you over.

It kinda sounds like a copy of battlefield 2, so I dunno if it would work.

Of course I will look upon this mod with interest if it comes off the ground [thumbs_up]

maybe if you used the current cod maps and game types along with a spectator assigned to a certain team.

i.e/ Axis would have 1 spectator and so would allies, then maybe use the a quick command system so that the spectator could tell their team where the enemy was and how to take them out.

Although with this, you would have to rely on people listening to your commands.

techno, i understand. but the mod, would be mostly used for clans. Cos not all people listin to other players on a public server with 64 players allowed. As of course having teamspeak being used for games or ventrillo.

I like the sound of it. I also like infection to. All mod sound great :D

I agree posty, the mod would be useless on general public servers, but maybe for use in clan leagues, clan matches, training etc. I think it could work out great, but it will only be popular in the clan scene. Hope it does come out though, the more Mods the better!

Yeah, I liked the CC games,A Bridge Too Far was the first game I bought.

Most public players go for a personal score instead of teamplay, just punish them with lowering the score if they disobey/deny orders ;)

lol I like the way you think avenger_orion, only I think that would seriously anger people, then again if you download the mod, why would'nt you follow the rules, maybe that is not so harsh after all. Break the rules and you get punished! good thinking

2 things.
1. combine the action of cod with the role playing aspects of D&D games with character build up and personalization and you have a absolute cant lose best selling game. but hard to have action and yet have the player character remain alive, as if death is no serious consequence.

2. have a FPS with the fighting structure of a Street Fighter 2 Championship Edition, high and low target, block and strong, medium, and light/fast attacks. that would kick ass, both figuratively and literally.

yeah it would be coul if you could personnalise your character, like the face, the uniform, helmet boots, anything, but that would be to heavy on the server maybe.

Well there are some pretty good ideas going on here, customisable players eh? well that would new for a WWII game. If anyone decides to make this mod or something like it for the up and coming COD2 game, I would definetly help [thumbs_up]
