I bet someone out there is familiar with the program called Gmax made by discreet makers of 3dsmax. I was wondering if this tutorial http://modsonline.com/Downloads-full-2432.html can be use with Gmax. Or is it even possible to make custom animations with Gmax for doom3? |

Hi.
I am familiar with gmax.
I use it for scenery design for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
The problem is that you have to have "gamepacks" for "gmax"
relating the game you are developing for so you can export your models into the game.
http://www4.discreet.com/gmax/gmax.php?id=902
Here you will find a list of games and some information.
Could you be more specific to what you want to do.
Maybe i can help you out.
The main problem is how to export your animated model from "gmax" in Doom III without a gamepack.
Cheers.

Hi
I have downloaded the video you mentioned and looked
into this.
This tutorial shows how to export md5 mesh from Discreet
3dsmax6.
This fellow uses MD5Exporter for 3dsmax.
This is a plugin.
You can use this tutorial with gmax but you have to get yourself MD5Exporter for gmax.
Go grab your a copy with this link:

Have Fun.

This program is just fine to model a train.
http://www.vmbollig.de/msts/tut_en/
This is only a very very simple tutorial.
Dont now how experience designer you are.
But it shows you how to get a simple shape and how to texture
and how to animate.
The problem is how to export and get it in "Doom 3".
If you want a idea what trains you can make with "gmax"
look at this site:

Yes modelling becomes very complexe with all these
programs to learn to handle.
First look into the export and import issue.
Would be nice if people could work together on projects.
Lets say one designing with "gmax" and "3dsmax".
And other on "scripting"...................
Maybe you can try to search for someone.
Or models that you can download.
