hey guys
i downloaded the map mp_druckkammern_beta
nice map beside
and on some machines/generators there is a yellow texture and this texture drives me crazy
[confused]

its maybe hard to see, i cuttet 2 pictures with paint:

the texture is like pulsating ö.ö it becomes brighter and darker
i took a look in the iwd materials and images file, (and also with radiant) and there is NO yellow texture, only simple metal and concrete ones
there also isnt a script for maybe rotating this texture or sth like this
so im really confused how the mapper glitch (offline for 200 days :(, cant contact him) made this
i startet the map in developer-mode and did /cg_drawmaterial on this texture, but it isnt shown ! it tells me only the texturename what is behind this yellow mystical texture
i also did /noclip and looked all over the map and -the hell- i found THIS:

how he did it?
maybe he made a custom texture like water only with yellow color (the waves are the pulsating part?) maybe he did it this way, but how i said, i cant find any damn texture in his map.iwd that is this texture

AAAAAAAAAARGH it looks damn cute how he did it`?

there is no fx folder in his iwd file (and i dunno how to create cubiq xf , with fx u maybe can see the fx rays out of the cubiq range)
and i dunno if there is pulsating light in cod2?!
but in my video-demo this is like a terrain patch or one-side textured caulk brush, i dont think its light
mhh
tom. ill try make yellow water texture, maybe these lil waves in it is it

Oh, I used to love this map! Pure awesomeness ...

Anyways, the pulsating texture is a bit tricky. It's nowhere in a pack, because the author used the already existing "pulsating" material, which is:

objective_base_obj

As you can see, this material have objective flag, which means it pulses with orange hues ( just like ... objective objects in Single Player mode: documents you have to pick up etc. ). Take a look for this material and apply it to a face - then it'll glow in game [cool] It's that easy. Hope it helps and let know if it works, cheers

hey thanks, yeah it helps alot
my english isnt that good, i had to google translate xD shameon me
okay, he made this with objectives
i thought it isnt possible in cod2 mp!
ok, i found in docs some scriptdocs with objectives
but i dont have any clue what to do with them, and maybe where to find it in maps or ehm to use it in radiant
how can i imagin this, i mean either u can use it (like textures or brushes) in radiant - or u have to script it (like effects or sounds), right?

ill have a look in some iwd to find maybe objective-examples mhhh
the search func. didnt found sth, ill open all maual :)


edit:
ehm where can i find the SP- iwd? only on disc?

edit 2nd:
i cant find SP files, so i took a look on the eastyorks2 sp missions
and i found

this:

ok i dunno what it is, but it was the only thing ifound on the main-folder in cod2

You're messing things up a little ... however I'll try to explain it: in Radiant choose 'tools' in textures list. There should be one, tiny, invisible texture titled "objective_base_obj" - apply it to the faces you want to be glowing. There are also few other 'obj' textures, you can try them out as well, though I didn't test them. Oh, and one more thing.This texture IS invisible, so after you paint a whole brush with this texture, you'll have problems finding it :D Try applying it to the one face only so you can easly find it [wink]

thank u so much, ill test it right now!

okay i made a simple brush and want to texture this brush with obj texture, but i cant choose this texture
mhh i can see it, but nothing happens, the old texture stays
on the texture window in radiant u usually can see which texture u use right nor (red frame) and if i click on obj_base texture nothing happens
okay i thought maybe it have to be so >> compiled and theres no dofference

Firstly, what red frame are you talking about?

And secondly ... it's impossible and probably you're doing something wrong. The 'obj' material is just like every other texture:

1. Select brush ( SHIFT + left mouse button )
2. Choose the obj texture by clicking on it.

In viewport it should change to an invisible block, and in-game it will start glowing. If you still can't change the texture in Radiant, try to post more details.

okay
ehm in radiant:
u create a brush
and on the texture-window, u have all textures
i choose a simple metal texture and did it on my brush
in the texture-window u now can see ur choosen metaltexture and cause u choose it there is a simple red frame outlined of it (it shows u what texture u are using right now)
okay i select 1 face and want to give this face the obj texture
i clicked on obj texture... and nothing happened
i already have the metaltexture choosen and 3d window also nothing changes
mh it looks like i cant choose the obj texture
i clicked on it like 1000 times but its the metaltexture already in the red frame (the choosen texture)
do you can choose the obj texture? if yes i reinstall radiant
i hope u can understand me

i clicked on the empty space -.- the obj texture is like 2x2 pixelsize :D
and it was invisible
it got it
