I get a lot of questions about mod tools. They are in development. I will post something more specific as soon as I can. #codblackops #pc

Make of it what you will...

Honestly I blame Activision for all the inconsistencies or plain undesirables in the past 2 - 3 years of any of their published games, instead of the development studios.

We will see what happens.

Not really, we know from a previous statement that Treyarch are working to get us the full wack (Mod compiler + Map tools). If not told different now then it stills stands. [jumping]

If you remember, Robert Bowling / IW once stated that they are planning to build modtools for CoD6 but it's release was TBA...it never released.

The above statements in my first post goes beyond just "planning" and at least shows some form of tools are ACTUALLY being developed for end-users. (Yes we are the end-users)

This is of course no form of confirmation to what degree of modding or mapping if at all will be possible, but then again it was stated that pcdev truly wants to get us the whole 9 yards if technical issues with creating an end-user modtools package doesn't put them at a standstill.
Minimum stated was to at least release tools allowing for full blown mods which require zone / .ff source file data.

Hey zeroy, were you the same person who replied on the "Competitive Mod" for Blackops (cmMOD) on the CoDBO forums?

I noticed the names in credits and knew this was a wack job by people who are active in making/promoting hack prgms for CoD MP and other MP games.

Persoanally i don't think the CoD series is worth the time modding anymore, im looking for a different franchise that deserves support.

Mystic I was starting to feel that way back when World at War came out. Then the tools came out and people started to get excited again so much so that many new maps came out. Two years later game is still going pretty good. I think it was good that there were no tools for the last release as this gives time for people to explore other games, other interests.

I think that we will have full mod/mapping with this new release and the interest will be good. As you stated though, Im not sure either how much longer the franchise will truly hold a loyal following. I would not mind seeing a different franchise but as of today I really dont see anything in the immediate future.

You are right, after MW2 ive decided to create my own game 'JumpScape'. Hmmm, and maybe ill make some mods for 'ID Tech 4' engine games because there is friendly mapping & modding community.[machine_gun]

When the tools are released, I have one project I wish to try and complete for BO but...I think the next game to watch is 'Heroes Of Stalingrad' even though it uses the unreal engine.

I like the support Tripwire seem to be providing for modders and for the game.

If you haven't already, listen to the two podcasts at bashandslash where they have a chat with the developer.

Right now the only thing it means is "dont call us we'll call you". I keep getting tempted with cool new ideas to work on but then I pull back and wonder if cod has run its course also.
