from the 'compiling maps' read me (included in the tools)

Creating a VClog (visibility cache data)

This log can be made once and forgotten about until you make a significant change to geometry in your map which would allow models, players, or AI to exist in new areas; it will still be valid after almost any tweak to geometry, including those that alter shadows

Thanks peri...Sorry I tend to forget about the documents [tongue]

My buildings are all done, no major changes expecrted there. But I still have all my terrain to work on (right now it`s a flat plate) and also I might add some models... Guess I`ll try and do a vclog, see what it does/changes...

okay now i need someone with the know-how (or anyone that wants to help). I understand these portals, except for one thing...how do they work with workable doors? I know that when the door is closed, the door will block the tris from being seen on the other side, but when you open the door, you can see everything on the other side. Would it be wrong to put the portal brush in the door anyways, will it interfer with anything? I know that the door will only be open momentarly, but hey...what ever cuts down on tris...try it right?

I`ve had to put portal brushes in every single door way. My doors are all making sounds, so that way I think the game sees them as detail or whatever. Just patch the door frame like there was no door and you`ll be fine [smokin]

Or like peri said, make it go through the wall and door...
