I am making a SP map and when I compile it and play the map I spawn in the middle of a floor nowhere near where I put my player start.....

Also if I try to put the following simple gsc file with my map the game freezes while it loads the map.

main() { maps\_load::main(); }


suggestions?

Did you use the "create map" button on the launcher, or did you create your map from scratch in radiant. Creating it via the launcher sets up a default gsc file. If you create your own gsc file manually, the game will crash on start up. And without a gsc when a map has been built from scratch, you spawn as a multiplayer spectator.

ok where is that gsc that is automaticly created? I cant see it in the maps folder where all the other gsc files are.

As you can see the place I spawn ingame is WAYY different from the player start I put in the editor. Yes I know i havnt put any reflection probs or anything to fix the redness, havnt gotton there.

This is probably because you're not using the correct spawn point.

So basically the game is probably ignoring 'your' spawn point.

nope a SP spawn point is info_player_start...thats what im using

You're obviously not doing something right.

C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty - World at War\raw\maps

that's the location.

All the files are generate once the map has been created in the launcher.

I was getting the exact same problem, till I created a new map through the launcher, and loaded it up in radiant.

so I?
1. start hte launcher and hit create map then start radiant.
2. I copy everything from my old map (one im getting the error on) and bring it to the map i made through the launcher.
3. THen compile?

Ok I did that and got it to make a GSC file, but the compile wont finish. Says this

cod2map -vis -platform pc "C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty - World at War\raw\maps\prison" ERROR -1

there are the two errors i get in the compile
ERROR: surface 'atoll_ship_metal_rust1' is partially floating or needs to be aligned

and the IWD denied ones

If you make a copy of your map as I did... created a nazi_zombie_map in launcher and then from Radiant made a copy of the map with a normal name so my PC doesn't crash when I try to compile a zombie map... it doesn't create the gsc's. Yes, plural, as in 4 gsc files.

The FOUR .gsc files that launcher creates:
yourmapname.gsc
yourmapname_amb.gsc
yourmapname_anim.gsc
yourmapname_fx.gsc
