Okay.... so heres the deal. I had gave up on Radiant awhile back because it crashed all the time when either i tried to load a old map I saved or when I placed a Light any where in my game. Now im trying to get back into radiant i am still having the same problem with the lights. Heres what happens, Im doing that step by step video on how to install and run radiant. Great! no problems it seems to work, well i get to the point where I make a room and add a player_info start. Omg great that worked too, BUT when I have to add a light object my Radiant CRASHES?? all the time!!!
I get a Windows error report titled
Radiant MFC Application
Radiant MFC Application has encountered a problem and needs to close we are sorry for the inconvenience.
Okay i read the error report from windows and i have updated every thing in my pc. Including the patch for mod tools to 1.1. So any one know the problem because im a noob. Im still use to worldcraft for cs.
Im running on a Nspire laptop, Intel duel core2, Nvidia Geforce 7600 GO 256mb, 2G ram, Windows XP corp. SP2. ??
I love help Thanks |

It was a problem for some and a solution for them with Radiant on COD2 and it also resolved a similar problem for someone on COD4, last week. A simple google search would have told you that. |

Okay, so here are the steps to failure and one step that seemed to work but in the end you can't reload your saved game from.
So i open the app. and start the level editor. Make a simple brush and make it hallow. Then I moved the walls so no such walls intersects one another. Then I place a info player start within the map and make sure it is in the player's world not the void and last but not least finish it off with a crash from adding a light source into my little box level.
Now the radiant crashes when a light is added directly into the map itself. Now i tried something different last night that no one told me to do. I decided to make the simple box level do all the steps besides adding a player_start. Then I placed a light in the empty void and what would be the luck??? it freaking worked. The radiant didn't crash, I couldn't figure it out though. Why would it work if i put the light outside the map first. But after that first one I could add as many lights as I wanted. Like always every thing has an equal or opposite reaction right? So I guess since that finally worked for once that means my level compile tools crap out? Nothing worked on the level compile tools after I saved what I had from the working map.
I'm on the verge of giving up on Radiant, even though I would love to learn more. The problem is that at the moment I don't have the time to research into errors for a program that is in my opinion flawed. Love making maps, been making personal maps since the age of 9 (Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, HL, CS, WC2 &3). On a flip note does any one have any resource sites into world of 3D level designer, Game development, Portfolio management? For one day I would love to really get back into level design.
