Well, you have to make the folder yourself. Infinity Ward weren't going to add one by default, as there were no stock usermaps [wink]

Cod4\usermaps\mapname\mapname.ff, mapname_load.ff, mapname.iwd

Cod4\usermaps\mapname\mapname.ff, mapname_load.ff, mapname.iwd

then all i have to do is start cod 4 click modwarfare mod,
then "~" bring down comand
type in mp_mymapname and it should work correct?

From my understanding building an arena file (see the tutorial in the COD mapping section) will place your map in the list of maps to choose from but in lieu of that you can go to the startup screen for the game, access the console with ~ then type map mp_yourmapname and hit return and it'll load your map first then , say, backlot or whichever next.

Don't work for CoD4 at the moment. CoD4 only reads the CoD2maps.arena (no other) and this arena file must be in the mod.ff of the used mod.

you sure that arena files dont work for cod4 cause thats what im gana do sounds better. Did some research and sounds like it has the best outcome.
just another question tho when you do an arena file is it just as simple to distrupit your map to others? where they can just unzip and start playing through the map selection(where regular cod4 maps are located)
or are they gana have to do a bunch from their end.

Reason im asking is im making a map of my work and its almost finished, just need to add some spawns, and helo and its done. People at my work arent the best computer literate so i want to make it as simple as posible for them.

As I said before, arena files in maps don't work for CoD4 at the moment (I don't know if iw will fix this). To show your map in the ingame maplist it need to be added to the CoD2maps.arena file. And the CoD2maps.arena file only works from a mod.ff file (not from a maps .ff file or from an .iwd file). So only modders are able to add maps to the ingame maplist with their mod.
So, your map can only be started from console (with /map yuormapname)
