I'm trying to make a mod that makes it so that when you shoot some one with the barrett in the arm or leg then that body part falls off. I dont know what I would have to do to make this happen or if its even possible. I assume that it would be through a script?

I know that this was done with head shots so that when you hit them in the head it flies off but that was in Cod 1 or 2 (not sure which one though).

head should be possible, but it's a seperate model. Arms, torso and legs all belong to the same xmodel (in the previous games atleast) so I don't think it'll be possible directly. You could make custom xmodels though, and make a script that'll hide the stock body model, with the custom one with the limb missing

Intersting idea. We might be able to simulate it by hexing the player model twice, changing the skins so they use different ones, and those skins are transparent, then changing the trasparency of the skins so it looks like one model has no arm, and the othere is just an arm, and linking the arm model to the original model, and making it play the same anims until it is shot off, oh my this is a long sentence.

Ya i thought I might just have to make a new xmodel for the player so I downloaded Maya 8.5 but it looks really over my head. Would it be possilbe to just load the player xmodel into Maya then just edit it?

Dobby I would have never thought of that but if I wanted to have all four limbs and the head come off then wouldnt that mean 6 xmodels(whole person, head, both arms, both legs) for each player and with 50 some players on a server wouldnt that slow down the server? I mean i could be wrong but thats alot of xmodels to render even if they are half transparent.

Thanks for the responses!

No, isn't possible.
You need the model as maya file (some will come with the tools), or you have to wait that someone create a modelexporter for CoD4 (like there is for vCoD, CoD:UO and CoD2). The modelexporter (if there will be one someday) will give you an obj-file which can be loaded by Maya. Then you can edit the models.
After that you need the model-exporter plugin for Maya (which will come with the tools) to create new xmodels.

Would be nice to make a couple of models of different cross sections of the body, so when you nail someone with the .50 it completely cuts them in half.

Also the "last stand" perk in regards to the .50 should be disabled.
