The starter package for the MODSCON 07.2 Call of Duty series mapping contest is now available. We got the textures in there for you and 2 map files to work from. Grab the files and start mapping.

Remember, use the map we provided as your starting point. Also, use at least one texture with the MODSonline name in your map. We provided 2 for you to choose from.

In the readme that comes with the files is this right?

Quote:

For CoD2
- place modscon_cod2.map in C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 2\main\maps

Shouldn't it be:

For CoD2
- place modscon_cod2.map in C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 2\map_source

Any gametype is fine. I provided a map with a single player spawn for testing.

The_Preacher... hehe. Thanks for that clarification. [duh]

That's an interesting point. I surrounded the map with terrain patch meshes and filled the rest in with world brushes. I did this for a couple reasons. One was time.. I had very little. The other is I didn't want people to feel that they were stuck with a terrain that was difficult to change. I wanted mappers to have freedom to change the base of the map to whatever they wanted.

The terrain mesh is basically just sticking through the world brush and didn't look visually wrong in my tests. Nor did it come up with any noticeable errors.

What is the general opinion here about what was done? Should it be reworked with a complete terrain mesh on the base of the map so that they don't overlap? Should the mesh subdivision be simple or complex?
