I came across a small mod while working on mmine, that changes the decal@hotel_lafaire to one that has the clans logo and name. It was keep in a texture folder

I tried to do this by making it the same size and a .dds file but in game it just comes across as black lines like that you can barely see.

Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks Jim

I can open with Infranview but do not see anything about the texture.

Here is a link to picture.

How did you make the .dds texture then?

Download Gimp, install the .dds plugin (google for both) and you can make your own .dds files.

I save them as a targa using Microsoft Digital Image Starter and then use DDS Converter 2.1 to change them to a DDS file. That is what I have been using and so far have been succesfull every time.

well.. the problem is... decals work a bit different than normal textures.. so different the dds converter can't make them correctly.

normally a picture consists of 3 layer, one red, one green, one blue (RGB). However, in decals there is a 4th layer.. alpha layer, which is a black and white layer, the white parts will be visible ingame, the black parts will be seethrough.

So by using gimp I can create a DDS picture with this fourth layer and it should then correct?

I have downlaoded and installed GIMP. Messed around with it for a couple of hours but have not seen how to add this alpha layer. When I make a dds file I use transparent layer but cant get it to work.
