Hey guys,

I tried making a loading screen with the CoD2 tutorial, but with no luck. How am I supposed to make a loading screen for UO?

Any help would be appreciated.

making loading screens for cod2 is was different than how you would make a loading screen for uo so thats why it didnt work.

Im looking for the tutorial you need for uo but i cant find it. I'll post it if i find it. [lol]

If you're just trying to create a generic loading screen, that's easy. Just make the image you want to use into a 1024 x 1024 .dds file, name it "unknownmap," and put it in a folder named "levelshots." Pack that up and you're ready to go.

It may help to set your actual image at a width of 1024 and a height of 768, and then to put that over a 1024 x 1024 black background. The game will overlay the top and bottom 128 pixels with two black strips to show the map name and the loading progress bar.

If you're trying to make a loading screen for your own map, the image's dimensions will be the same, as will the folder you put it in. I've never tried to map, though, so I don't know what to do to make it pop up as the map is loading.

Thanks for the replies. I did find how to make it work. It is pretty much the same way what ITOE_MC suggested. Thanks for the help! What I am doing is making UO maps compatible for the Heat of Battle mod. So, what I did is take a HoB:UO map and looked at the file structure of it. All I did was rename my image to "mymap.dds", obviously replacing "mymap" with the name of the map. I put that into the levelshots folder, made the pk3 and loaded the map and voila, it worked!

Thanks for the help though. I would have not gotten anywhere if there would have been no modsonline! I am constantly looking at your tutorials! Keep up the good work!
