I just spent the last ten minutes doing a search for keyboard shortcuts.

The reason is, I could have sworn I read a post last week about some problem or another and one of the answers given was NOT to use keyboard shortcuts, like Ctrl-Z, etc, as it "may" cause problems.

Any more info on this?

Do not use the windows shortcuts, ctrl-z, ctrl-x etc. (though officially the "undo" in Radiant lists the shortcut ctrl-z, I've had some problems with it.. especially when working with textures. Instead you're better off reapplying the texture, or, in case of brushwork, remake the brush.

You can however use the shortcuts inside Radiant/Graydiant (Help->Commandlist). Such as "X" to activate the clipper etc.

I find undoing stuff only causes problems for me with texturing and working with oblong angles--if I undo a texturing job, it doubles the fac contents and is bad for your map. As long as I'm clipping on angles that match the grid, however, I find that I don't have any problems using ctrl-z. I try to limit it to just bringing back a brush that i deleted by mistake, or something real simple. If you've converted a block of brush to an endcap or something, I'd just make the brush all over again.. just my two cents. [tongue]

Okay, by no means am I stupid BUT first you tell me not to use windows shortcuts then you tell me to use the commandlist shortcuts.
Of those, which should we NOT use is the most pertinent question?

The undo operation is not foolproof in Gradiant (I don't use old CoD radiant). Some of the usual errors are things like not undoing the operation (instead it undoes stuff done to the previously selected brush). Or it creates a duplicate brush.

Still, Ctrl-Z works about 80% of the time. About 15% of the time, I have to undo what it "undid". And 5% of the time, I just reload the layer from disk.

Note: I rename my map once or twice a day (i.e. mp_uo_tucholaforest_064 to mp_uo_tucholaforest_065). Plus I have a backup task that runs every 4 hours and versions the files to another drive. And my compile script automatically makes a backup of the source files every time it runs.

Do NOT use the following Windows short cuts:

Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V to copy something.. use "spacebar" instread
Ctrl-X, Ctrl-V to cut and paste something. Move it manually instead

and use Ctrl-Z with moderation.if it;s not too difficult remake what you were doing instead of undoing it.
Though truth to be told.. "Ctrl-Z" is such an automatic responce I use it way too often.

You CAN use all the Radiant shortcuts found in the command list.

Sounds good, I have been using the undo command on the toolbar, not Ctrl - Z and always spacebar.
