I like radiant because of how well I know the editor. There is alot of support and tutorials using the radiant editor, but I can't say that is the primary reason for my liking it. I just know how to use it.

I am also partial to Quake based games and those are the games that utilize the radiant editor.

I think the Hammer editor (for Source) is the most easy to use... making things move (and such) is so much simplier in hammer then in radiant... since radiant requires scripts an stuff (atleast cod does)

Altough i prefer radiant cause you can get stuff done much faster and you dont need to change to "camera mode" as you do in Hammer... it gets annoying after a while

im for Hammer. i like the 4 screen layout, u got the top, front, and side and 3D windows instead of having to change the screen then u lose where your at and all that. plus the no scripting required thing makes things faster. yet, radiant has ups to with that it dont get new updates weekly that messes everything up.

I first started using the then Worldcraft now Hammer editor for HL and DoD. I found it quite intuitive and enjoyed working with it. Additive modelling was also quite intuitive.

After that I moved on to level editing for Unreal based games, and I started using UnrealEd. Initially the number of buttons scared me compared with Hammer. However, the big difference was in the fact that you were subtraction/subtractive modelling. (i.e. you start with a huge block of solid something and chisel away, like sculpting, to produce the level). This takes a little getting used to at first but is actually quite easy.

Right now I am moving back to Hammer for Source (HL2 and DoD:S) and I have started working with Radiant for the first time.

The only thing that takes some getting used to with Radiant is the fact that you only have two view windows (instead of three for Unreal and Hammer). Other than that it is a nice editor to use.

As with most tools, once you get used to them they are all quite easy to use, and each of them has their plus and minus points.

My only gripe is the way the different editors require different 3D tools for creating custom models. Some use Maya, some XSI, and some use 3DMax :( ... difficult to cope with all three.

Personally, the editors for the CoD Series (CoD:Radiant, CoD:UO:Gradiant and CoD2: Radiant). This is my personal preferance as I started back in the days of MoH:AA which had an extremely similar engine (I think that the team (or some of them anyway) from MOH:AA went and made CoD series... I may be incorrect on that).

Personally, CoD series editors, but I would advice you to try ones reccomended and see which you like better...
