Hello! I am looking to replace the voice command sounds with custom ones that I could use on my server. I've played on a few servers that have done it but I haven't been able to find any info on how to go about it. I wondered if anyone might be able to help me. I wasn't sure if maybe UOTOOLS could do it because everytime I try to install it it says I don't have a valid copy of COD UO installed (which I do). Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You don't need UOTools for this.

What you want to do it to find the .wav files which you want to change. THey're most likely in your localized english .pk3 files.

Record your own voiceovers (or download the ones you want to use). These will have to be in the exact same format as the original ones (mono for instance).
Next, save them to the exact names of the files you want to change.
Add them all in the right folders to a new .pk3 file.
tada.. done.

As for not being able to install UOTools.. did you reinstall windows since installing UO, because the UOTools installer looks in the registery for the place where UO is installed. If you reinstalled Windows, the registery key gets overwritten.
Try reinstalling UO (and probably CoD too) and then UOTools again.

Thanks! Ok I think I'm on the right track, I just have one more question for now. To open the pk3 file I renamed it as a zip but how to I turn it back into a pk3 file? When I try to just rename it back to pk3 it stays a zip file and the game won't read it. If you can tell me how to do that I think I'll be straight. Thanks for your help!

Open Windows explorer
Go to Tools -> Folder options
Tab -> View
UNcheck "Hide extentions for known filetypes"

Now you should be able to see the .zip extention and you can then rename it to a .pk3 file.

On a side note.. do NOT alter the original gamefiles. You're better off copying the .pk3 files to another location and opening THAT file, thus leaving the original installation intact.

Very nice! Thanks for your help! Oh yeah, also on that last note, I'm not messing with the original files at all. I was actually using a mod in a completely seperate folder with its own sound pk3s so it will launch as a mod and not effect the game installation at all. And everything is backed up regardless. Thanks again for your help! [thumbs_up]
