Hello,[wave]

on my Omaha Dog Green map I've made a wall that you have to hit with a Panzershreck to destroy it. Now, I cant force the AI to hit it, and that idea doesn't make sense cause American had bazookas. Now i want to make a trigger that will spawn an AI and make him run to the wall and the plant the bomb that destroys the wall.....
I've looked through the web and couldn't find anything about that, I know its used on the Duhoc map when the AI blows the gates but in the script I didn't find anything that would help me with it....
Anybody got a tutorial or maybe a workarround?[confused]

Check out babycop's Stalingrad map. It had also AI planting a bomb. That script should be easier to understand and search for.

This is the line from duhoc_assault_guns.gsc that is what plays the animation (of course you'll need to set it up properly with the variables being referenced):

level.randall anim_single_solo(level.randall, "plant_thermite", undefined, guns[i]);


For future reference if you want to figure these things out on your own....

1) You have the anim in mind you know you want to play from X level.
2) Open up X_anim.gsc
3) Search for keywords of the anim, like "plant" for this instance.
4) Search X level scripts for the animation name, which in this case was "plant_thermite"
5) You've found how to play the animation, now just read a few lines above to figure out what's referenced / needed.

Also, are you using UltraEdit? It'll help with all the syntax highlighting and make things pop out [with other added bonuses like a full function list] for you (forgive my theme, I like it dark):


If you need help setting it up, I wrote a tutorial here for CoD4 but it would still apply for the most part (you'll need to grab the worldfile from CoD4 tools as I don't think they included it for CoD2). If you need any help setting it up let me know.

Hahahaha...tnx....it's my first map and the fact that I'm making a replica of the real battle of omaha dog green sector brought few demanding things to do. I've overcome the most with help of the few members at this forums and I thank you. I've spent my last few days making the terrain and the pillbox position as accurate to their real position as I could. In the past few weeks I've red more history arrticalls and spent time on Google Eart than ever....

Great job! Just one question. I don't mean to pry, but is this going to be a Rambo map where you have to kill the whole german army yourself, or is the AI going to help quite a bit? I personally hope for the latter.

No, I dont like one man army ww2 shooters.....The battle for dog one exit was actually one by few smaller squads so I'll make it as authenticall as I can.....ofc, on the beach is a real chaos, with 30+ soldiers running and dying, mortars fireing, 3 flaks busting your ass to the seawall and like 5-6 mg42 butchering every1 on that stands on their feet....I've made a misteke by not making a friendly chain...I made a normal trigger where the 12 AI soldiers spawn and try to make to the bluffs, but once they make it they stand still....I need to add the damn chain.....
