my game is not remembering my rank after i turn off the computer ,go back to play game and i'am back to private again,is there a fix for this? i tried loading game over and over no such luck,I gain rank in the game but it does'nt keep it when I start it again to Play .Dave

Is there a file there named mpdata? Is it larger than 1k (should be about 9k)?

it sounds like you are playing on a modded server - then on either a stock - or different modded server.

yea i was playing a mod ,but went back to regular game ,i have 9 kb in my profile folder mpdata

Try creating a new profile (choose a new name). You can always rename your online name back to the one before - you dont have to use the profile name online. You can be any name you like.

I would point out this is a common problem with COD4. No one knows exactly what the problem is, but the most likely candidate is playing on Linux servers which dont write data to the player's mpdata file properly. It doesnt appear to happen on Windows servers.

If you were playing a mod... the mod doesn't effect the stock rank. The rank you have in the mod is for the mod, not stock game.
