You can make the character say and make different expressions to your heart's content and they will say or do pretty much anything you can think of.

How? Using the program 'faceposer' included in the recent Steam update of the Source SDK.

I haven't taken a look at it yet, when I do expect some feedback (maybe even a tutorial) after Christmas sometime.

Until then, visit the release notes and SDK documentation, it's as helpful.

I can't tell you if it's faceposer that does it or not, my memory fails me AND it may have changed since beta, but I doubt it.

The way it works from my memory, is that there is...think of it like a header and it contains sentence information in the audio file. The file is compiled through face poser and that syncs the face with the audio, all in one package.

In the original half-life, you just type in the a sentence as the vocab of characters like the gman were so vast you could basically just create one from the console...it woul dbe like "speak 'sentence here'" and voila...the difference seems to be that the console text is pushed into a header and packaged with the audio...this aint how its done, im just using it as an example~

if its like that or even similar, then the game has the audio builtin and you just arrange the words and use faceposer for general poses and lip syncs, then go over them slightly here and there to keep it in line and thats it...at least form what i remember anyway

try to remember though, i havent used the program as i am at a standstill as ive had to remove some files off mdy comp until i install hl2 soon (i had to remove cs:src and the sdk the other day to make things go smooth)
