When i try to host a server for CSS i get this error:

couldn't exec listenserver.cfg

I searched my css folder for it, but i couldnt find.

Does anybody have this file that i can use, or is this caused by a different error

I can get into the game, but it doesnt become public because of this i think

The file listenserver.cfg is used for non-dedicated servers, it is a configuration file and is included in the appropriate game's GCF file. Another file placed in the proper directory will take priority over this file, however that is not your problem.

The reason your server is not public is because you didn't set it public. By default, a server will be lan only. You need to use the command sv_lan 0 to have the server contact the main valve server, authenticate and be added to public server lists.

This is the old way of doing it, I will confirm this method when Steam finishes updating.

how do i make a non dedicated server to show up on internet server list.. My server always shows up in LAN/.

Open your cs in with the console, and make sure that the sv_lan command is equal to 0. If it is equal to one, then it means that your server will only be available to your local area network (lan), not the public internet

i tried that before and after i started the server but its still lan

How do you know that it is still LAN? Have other people tried to connect?

Another reason could be that if you are using a router it might be stopping the cs port from accessing the internet. To fix this you just simple open a port for your server (like 27015).

Another cause might be a firewall.
