I've searched the forums for the last day or so and can't seem to find an answer that works for me...

I have created my map, placed a few prefabs down, finished the terrain edditing to make my mountains, tunnels, rivers etc...and now I'm ready to plant trees and grass...I find the grass texture in radiant to be rather repetitive but cant find something to just add nice long grass without putting in a model.

so question 1:
Is there a texture that ISNT so repetitive for grass or do I have to add all the grass individually..that's a lot of models!

question 2:
How do I easilly add lots of models to uneven terrain? when I place my trees and grass I want them to "stick" to the hillside so I dont have to adjust the height every time...this possible?

thanks!

The best way that i found to lay the grass is to create a group of grass models and copy across the map. Its more realistic if you dont cover your whole map in grass. do it patches. To take it a step further, rotate the patch to have the grass pointing in different directions.

To get the grass to lay on the surface there is a tab along the top that will drop your model to the surface for you. Problem is i can't remember which it is. If i was to guess its one of the arrows pointing down.... but again im not completely sure.

thanks...
I found the button, it's the down arrow looking thing with the diagnal under it, I've tried this, and it works great...for the first model. however when I hit the spacebar it duplicates it right on the spot and when I move the location I then need to re-adjust the height. sigh.

Make sure these two buttons are pressed.

Now select one grass model (it doesn't work if you select more then one xmodel), hold down ctrl+alt and in the 3d view click with left mousebutton on your terrain. Each click a copy of the model will be placed on the ground with random scale and rotation.

alright, new issue....
Your plan worked, for the most part...I can place the model with variable size and rotation, however it ends up being placed above the ground (about 1ft above terrain in game sizing).

Any Ideas?

*** EDIT ***
I didn't have the "force drop height to 0" button depressed.
All is good :)
