well, yea
i have the french version of cod4 (i wanted the english one :( )
but when i installed the modtools it created a folder "programs" in windows
it wouldnt be really annoying if it was just that.
but in fact it mess the processes, some dont load at the windows boot anymore.

thats really annoying as my mouse prosses dont load at start, for example, so the mouse dont react like it should. and thats just an example.

if i delete the "programs" folder, it recreate it when i compile.

in my zone folder i got now : several useless folders: "-", "4", "Duty", "Modern", "of", "Warfare", and who knows where it create a "Call" folder LOL

and i think it cause some problems when i compile bsp or the fast files

it really pee-pee me off and i really dont know what to do to fix this.
anyone else got that same problems with a non-english version ?

i was wondering if this could be a part of the problem:
it never asked me the link to the prj file anywhere

in preferences, it only ask me the link to my game folder, it do not works if i put the cod4/bin folder there
how is this possible ? are there different versions ?

ok
well i guess we aintgot not much 'foreign language version" here, but i cant find the solution anywhere, and this is the best website anyway :)

so im trying again to find a solution for this.

i just get a new hard drive, so i got now a fresh install of windows xp, fresh install of cod4 and modtools.

the problem just pooped again when i compile the fast file for the first time on this fresh install.

still got that same folder in c: and random folders in raw/...

i guess the solution would be to buy the english version ?
WTH

feel like talking to myself, but nvm, hope some day a dev or a pro will help me finding the solution.

i was wondering why the ff compile tools wants to find those folders, and mostly if there was a setting file that tels him to search or create those stupid folders.

so i go to the bin/compile tools folder and see this CoD4CompileTools.settings file:

Code:
tree,C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\
mapname,mp_test5
developer,True
developerscript,False
cheats,True
tab,1
chkCustomCommandLine,False
txtCustomCommandLine,

no " or ' missing here ?
is it really end with a simple "," ?

this is a stupid error, that really need to be fixed, i dont understand why i am the only one to repport this, its so obvious its a gt,rshmtwhomktokg,bg setting somewhere that f**k it like that

did you try to put quotes around the path?

tree,"C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\"
or
tree,'C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\'

or replace path with %cod4_path% and add new system variable:

my cod4.prj:
Code:
{
"basepath" ".."
"mapspath" "..\\map_source"
"entitypath" ".\\cod4.def"
"autosave" "autosave.map"
"game" ""
"basegame" ""
"layeredmaterials" "cod4_layered_material_library.txt"
}

Setting a value in windows
In a command file or in the shell

To set a variable to a particular value in DOS-WINDOWS, use:
Code:
SET VARIABLE=value'

To modify a variable in the system (example 1 for XP)

On a french speaking Windows XP system (sorry) the procedure to add something to a path variable is the following

  1. Démarrer->Paramètres->Panneau de configuration->Système
  2. Select the panels: Avancé->Variables d'environnment
On an English system:

  1. Start->Parameters->Configuration Panel->System
  2. Or alternatively, right-click on My Computer Icon->Properties
  3. Select the panels: Advanced->Environment variables
Then:

  1. Change the "Path" variable in the user variables pane by adding the flex path at the end of the existing path variable. The result may look like this:

Code:
%Path%;c:\Flex SDK 2\bin

  1. If the "path" variable doesn't exist, create it and copy the above line.

Do not remove the other pathes ! Do not edit the system variables if you don't know what you do or you may regret it bitterly, because your system will stop working if do it wrongly. !

Here is a screendump showing some of the (french) Windows panels:

To add a new variable in the system (example 2 for XP)

E.g. the JAVA_HOME

  1. Right click on the 'My Computer' icon, 'Properties->Advanced.
  2. Click on 'Environment Variables'.
  3. Under user variables or system variables, click 'New'.
  4. Add a new variable, e.g. JAVA_HOME and enter the value, e.g. directory containing Java (e.g. C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_04).
