Less pork?   Less Pork?!    Commies....

@Jenny - there's no gender specific titles that I know of.  There may have been groups or units that were just women that had their own names.  I'm drawing a blank now though.   There were the women pilots who flew the planes from the east coast factories to the west coast in WWII...

"G.I." stands for "Government Issue" --> a male soldier is a "G.I. Joe" ; a female is a "G.I. Jane"

Wasn't it WASPs or something?  I think it was an acronym.

EDIT:

I'd post a reply to that in Russian but this board hasnt been able to render Cyrillic in the past you capitalist pig dog.
:p

We just call them soldiers, when you salute them you still call them 'sir' unless told otherwise by them or your CO. When you wear the uniform gender doesnt matter.

G.I.

Generally, whether male or female, a corpsman is a corpsman.

Female Army units during WWII were called WACs Women's Army Corps.
In the Navy they were called WAVEs
Coast  Guard: SPARS
Air-force: WASPs (not to be confused with W.A.S.P = White Anglo-Saxon Protestant)

IIRC, it came from 'G.I.' stamped on everything they used...  So it only followed that they themselves were 'government issue.'  Heh.
