Personally, I'm iffy on it.  Yes, pluto has been considered a planet so long that most want to keep it that way, but on the other hand it's so small it shouldn't qualify.  Maybe we should create a new name for planet like objects that are too small to be considered planets.
Like Planetoid.

Arrg. Just drop Pluto and keep the other 8 the way they are.

Why make the list 50 names long (or even 12 for that matter) when you could simply drop one and relieve all the confusion?

It will start to get out of hand. We may end up with far to many "planets" if we are not careful.

Why the attude of "we can't let it get out of hand", other planets can bring trade; jobs; a pin pal; a new place for Agent to look for a gf; a summer home with the federation flag fluttering in the breeze :D

Why not just leave it as 9, as it has been. Just allow Pluto to be the exception that makes the rule.

Some say leave it, others say "that's not a planet because this isn't".
They want to settle it once and for all.

They really need to come up with a definition of a planet that doesn't involve "it's round".  Perhaps giving a class designation to types of planets?  Hmm, now where would they get the idea for that?

In other space-related news, Voyager 1 reached the 100 AU mark just a couple days ago.  1 AU is the distance between the Earth and the sun, so Voyager 1 is now 100 times farther from the sun than we are.  That equates to about 15 billion kilometers or 9.3 billion miles.  Within the next 10 years or so, Voyager could leave the heliosheath, which is the area over which our sun has some kind of effect.  Read all about it.
