Quote (naso @ Oct. 29 2003, 9:03 pm) | Where has it been officially stated that a patch exists? |
Yes. Answer that one WadeV please, also please post a link to where it says LEC isn't letting them release it. |

Quote (WadeV @ Oct. 30 2003, 1:47 pm) | Sorry kathy thought you'd remember your own posts:
Quote | "Well…I hate to tell you this, but you were right. It’s a definite bug in the game. We’ve fixed the code on our end for a patch, but until the patch is available, there’s no way to work around it on the client end other than continually refreshing your server or by hosting your server through GameSpy Arcade".
I told you - this Raven cannot respond because of LEC and they will get sued theory DOES NOT EXIST. It's MORE PROPAGANDA/SPECULATION from the Raven supporters here trying to save face for the company that sold us defective merchandise, and now ignores us.
Please stop telling us they legally cannot reply to us. It is untrue. | And other e-mails to people exist out there as well if you search, www.gamingforums.com search there for a start. People could of course make these emails up but kathy if you made it up then you have some explaining to do. |
He is speaking of CODE for A patch, and he says UNTIL IT IS AVAILABLE...there IS NO PATCH at that time, but a complete fix FOR A PATCH...
christ...
and what else you want, the timestamp of the email? Ill get it for you...dont try and call me a liar on this, when you cant even back up your THEORIES that you try and pass off as FACT; instead you try and change the subject by gambling that Hoekstra never emailed me. |

Quote (WadeV @ Oct. 30 2003, 6:29 pm) | Ok you need a bit of programmer 101, Raven made the JA code right? So when they say they have the code available for the patch it means all they gotta do is hit compile and distribute it with LEC's permission of course.
When he says until there is a patch available he's talking about until there is a patch for the end user, for us. He's not saying until Raven gets the patch is he now? He's saying the code is ready and it will be out as soon as it can be.
What on earth is the difference between the patch being in code form and being compiled? Both things are done by Raven. You're just trying to worm your way out of eating your own hat which you've already done.
To be honest I believe you got a reply, he replied to an email of mine about JA being JK3 within an hour of me sending it. My point was I knew you weren't lying so I get the best end, you backed me up unwillingly by posting that e-mail. I couldn't wish for more! There is nothing more satisfying than the arguer putting their foot in their mouth and not realising until someone points it out.
Game set and match! |
Right dude...you know how old that email is?? 2 MONTHS. HOW CAN YOU BE SO STUPID?? THERE WAS NO PATCH YET - HES TALKING ABOUT THE MASTER SERVER BUG BEING FIXED AND READY FOR INSERTION INTO A PATCH. THIS EMAIL WAS LIKE 3 DAYS AFTER THE GAME WAS OUT...THERE WASNT EVEN A OUTLINE OF A PATCH YET. MY GOD STOP THE INSANITY.
Youve spun this story in circles so much I cant even remember what there is to prove to this thread anymore...the only person responding in Ravens favor is yourself, and you make no sense whatsoever.
And dude, I posted the email about 20 TIMES PRIOR IN DIFFERENT THREADS OVER THE COURSE OF TWO MONTHS...READ MORE BEFORE YOU ACCUSE PEOPLE OF MAKING UP THINGS.
You still never provide any evidence for your theories. You just spin more threads around. |

You've put me off trying now you're trying to convert your own "proof"...go find someone else to argue this. |

Since the question of whether a patch is even under development has now become an issue over on Lucasforums as well, here's a few Kenn Hoekstra quotes for all you keeping score. The first one is from an email sent in mid-September in reply to a request by our very own Kathybates!... |
This next one is in response to requests concerning the previous one, posted on Oct. 3rd by our very own... well, Kathybates!...
Quote | I realize that you think that I'm ignoring you, but that's not the case. There is a lot going on here this week and I've just gotten a bit behind on my e-mail.
If I could go into more detail about what we're doing over here right now, I certainly would. I thank you again for bringing the issue to our attention.
Once I know something more concrete, I will certainly let you (and everyone else) know.
--Kenn |
And that's about it folks. So there's three things that can be taken from what was said... 1) Raven has fixed the code for the server bug, and is waiting for the go ahead to put it in a patch; 2) If they could go into more detail about the situation they would; and 3) As soon as they can tell us something we'll be the first one's to know about it.
Anything else at this time is pure speculation and conjecture on the part of the JA community, including but not limited to the reasons why Raven can't discuss it, and why it hasn't been released yet. The only other official corroborating statements that we have to date are the ones we agreed to in the JA EULA, stating that LucasArts is the sole owner of JA and any other releases related to it. |

All I can say about this whole situation is to LEC, you are only making yourselves the laughing stock of the gaming industry with this whole debocle. To Raven, you are allowing LEC to make you the other laughing stock of the industry as well by allowing them to keep you from speaking to the community that supports your company. To Kathy Bates, I totally understand all your frustration concerning this matter. We all know how this is destroying the community on many levels. I myself have been mapping for JK2 and now JKA as well. We had a wonderful Halloween haunted castle and graveyard ready to go for Halloween but decided not to release it because of the issues with listing our server on the servers. We haven't gotten a date of the SDK release out of anyone at Raven or LEC either so I feel almost the same frustrations as you do from a designers standpoint. All i can say is, you keep posting complaints and try to make them as professional as possible, and you will be heard. The squeaky wheel gets the oil. Remember folks this game is produced and managed from the United States, and no matter what anyone says, this is a free country and you have the right(no the duty!) to complain about any company that ignores you or treats you with disrespect when you contact them for technical support This situation only publicizes the ongoing degradation of business ethics in our country by large corporations. And will only continue to degrade further unless we as consumers take a stand and let these companies know this is not only going to negatively affect their sales but also the longterm survival of a said franchaises. In other words, I hope Raven is letting LEC know how this problem is affecting their image and standing in the gaming community and the industry as well. As for Wadev, I moderate and administrate at www.4ums.com and know how this is making you feel. We deal with a lot of questions concerning problems with SWiSH, the Flash alternative. Their developers can be tight lipped sometimes but know when to say when and let the community of designers know what we need to know. You're very frustrated at having to deal with this over and over and I don't blame you. But you need to step away from this for a moment and compose yourself. Up until the last few posts from you I saw a semi proffesional moderator responding to a problem the way he should. But it seems in the last few posts you have become overly angry about this problem and have taken this to a personal level with Ms. Bates. Stop responding for a bit and watch everyones emotions cool down. Both sides have valid arguments but are just grinding their wheels against each other going nowhere at this point. It will be made, released, and fixed, I only hope the community survives long enough for said release to energize and renew our communities growth and interest in this game. |
