Well, what more can be said ? Like Reynor stated there, the lack of information has a negative effect on Raven's image to us. Naturally, those of us who have played Raven's games for long know that they have a tendency of offering good tech support. So the behaviour in air right now seems ackwardly strange. Now, what I feel, and this is only speculation, is that in addition to the master list patch, I believe that more drastic changes will be issued to the code. Perhaps this was the 'hectic times' Hoekstra referred to in his e-mail ? Of course it might also be that they have some other project under works (Doom 3 ?), which requires their attention. In any case, taking this type of argumentation to a level of an individual is not the correct way. Calling someone a liar or a Raven symph/a**licker is the most ridicilous way of conversation. It achieves nothing. So, pretty much all we can do now is wait. If there is someone here who thinks that they have waited long enough, and must do something NOW, then go ahead: switch your servers to Halo or whatever game you want people to play. Case closed. Everyone's happy. Instead, if you try to lure people out of playing JKA for some reason, then you're doing wrong. If a game is as bad as you believe it is, it will die out on its own. Trust me. This has been the fate of many games during the years. The sole fact that there are still players for JKA means that there must be something good in the game as well. I, for myself, will look forward for an answer from Raven, or a patch. If it takes until next year for it to come out, then so be it. I'll just play KotR PC-release (single player, of course) while waiting |

My beef is this ....and it's gonna be a tad lengthy. Oh, and read my disclaimer.
Disclaimer - Hey, it's only my opinion. Scrutinze 'em all ya want, but don't be a clown ....I'd say a more "colorful" word in place of "clown" but...
Raven Software, IMO, releases some great titles, and for the most part, they are incredibly reliable games, which is a rarity in the pc-gaming industry. They have mastered the Quake 3 engine, yaddaa-yaddaa-yaddaa.
Now let's look at the history of LucasArts, in particular the X-Wing series. X-Wing Alliance was headed up by Totally Games, who did an excellent game called X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter. So, they got the contract to do X-Wing Alliance. You'd think this game would rock, but unfortunately, LucasArts almost literally put a gun to the Totally Games developers heads to release X-Wing Alliance before it was completed. The game shipped with the usual bugs, a game that didn't have an ending, and Totally Games took a bullet for LucasArts. I have read statements from some of the devs from the X-Wing series who have said they couldn't tweak anything without the approval from LucasArts be it a patch, an upgrade, etc. At first I was willing to assume that Raven was blowing us off on the "can't find more than 10 servers with the in-game browser" problem. But now I'm beginning to wonder if LucasArts is holding 'em back. Then I think of the finished product of Jedi Academy, and IMO, there are a lot of missing elements, even in the skins. We have a female version of a Twi'lek ....but no male version?? That ticked me off a bit 'cuz I wanted to use the "dude skin." And the land speeder level. ####, that would've been a killer level if they just tweaked a few things. Instead, I find the level rushed. I'm not gonna bother listing all the minor gripes. I finished the game, I had fun, I really enjoyed the new style of saber combat ....and one of these days it's gonna be fun to play online again. Yes, I have GameSpy, but I hate using 3rd party browsers (ASE, QTracker, etc.) due to taxing my processor even when it claims it's shutdown during gaming. It would be nice if LucasArts would get off their b*tts and do whatever it is they need to do, but geez, lay off Ravensoft. |

Those retarded Raffel brothers are busy sucking the teet of id and their new marval property to give to farks about us. They have yet to make a pure original game that does not ride on the coat tales of anything with its own name. Thank god A REAL STAR WARS GAME comes out next month: knight of the old republic. Now that’s what I should have spent my 49.99 at. Not on these incompetent fcsk. And would of it of killed them to use a better model program for faces of everyone. It looked like a high school graphic artist made those face models. God it sickens me that I once like these hacks. God I wish I could return software. It’s not even worth burning copies to give to friends. |

Quote (naso @ Oct. 27 2003, 1:15 am) | JK2 was probably my favorite game, and I have always enjoyed this series, including JA. I played JK2 all the time. I bought JA the day it came out. That said, with the video-card issues and more importantly, the LACK OF A WORKING SERVER BROWSER this thing is worthless. I use the third party junk, but most people don't play. It took a while before I found out that was why there weren't servers. It was pretty frustrating. The lack of support for a game with issues that should have stopped it's release is enough to make one angry. That threads are closed because of it is another insult. People claim it's all Lucas Arts, not Raven, but really, why should I or any other person who shelled out a bunch of money for a ridiculously non-functional product care? If what I hear others say has any veracity at all, Raven and Lucas Arts have just lost a lot of future business, even if the customers are addicted to the franchise. Even they eventually realize they're being duped and cashed in on. |
umm, just read this post, and lemme say: wtf u talkin bout?
Ive got an old 750 AMD K7 machine, with a Ati Radeon 9000 and 512 RAM; according to reviewing magazines, this shouldn't be working.
However, IT IS working 100% (with minimum specs of course=) and I never had problems to find servers!!!===
JA is tha bomb man, if you have so many problems, it's probably bcz of you NOT the game!!! |

To end the discussion... It is out of their hands, I will keep on repeating it and I will keep closing the threads until you realize it or until it penetrates through your thick skulls.
Also! From now on I will be keeping track of those who only come here to biscuit eater and moan, and ban requests will be transferred to the admins. |
