Well I hope some of you find this bit helpful.

The problem :

Using a GeForce FX card causes some textures to appear corrupt and or missing.   Examples are the cargo crates on Hoth that have somesort of stone(?) like texture on the edge of the create boxes.

This occurs on a FX 5900 Ultra and an FX 5650 Go card using any driver above 44.03.

Solution 1 would be to use driver version 44.03 - this has a twofold problem fix as I believe 44.03 was the last Nvidia driver version where fog was working properly in OpenGL as well (many of you on FX cards probably have seen this problem as well - many objects hidden by fog in game are not rendered correctly).

Solution 2 was to disable Multi-texturing in the cfg file.  I think the cvar name was r_ext_multitexture (this needs to be set to "0").   Doing so caused the weird blank textures to show up on driver revision 45.23 WHQL, but the fog issue still remains sort of ( it looks a bit better than without it).

If I get the chance to I'll post up some screenshot comparisons later :

interesting i've not noticed this bug on my FX5200 or FX5900 ultra.

both are Creative though, and i'm using 44.04 - simply because the 45.23 WHQL drivers have caused so many problems.

Milkshape3D refuses to start, Oni crashes, you can't turn off Texture Sharpening which causes a 5% speed loss, the IntelliSample Quality bar doesn't appear to do anything and the timatic ratings for the monitor causes further game slowdowns.

personally gonna keep using creatives drivers for a while cause they seem alittle more stable than nVidias - its why i switched to them on my 3D Power GeForce2mx 200, seems to have better compatibility and quality now.

just hope that the DetonatorFX 5 drivers fixx all the current problems. I've not been overly impressed with this current series of the Detonator4 series, caused numerous problems since introduced ... amusingly alot of the problems were with nVidia specific games too like America's Army Online and such. Was funny when i upgraded to the 41.09 drivers and all of the textures for the soliders and ground didn't load :p
