Are you using q3map or q3map2?
ydnar's q3map2 does not support lightstyles.

i have a quick question on lighting as well.

i know this is fairly basic but im still learning and i checked the radiant manual and it doesnt elaborate much on this, all i get are descriptions. ok so as far as creating a spotlight goes , i add an info_null to my map above the light , deselect everything , click my light first then the info_null and hit ctrl k which draws a green line from my light to the info null. so in radiant it looks like it works ok aside from the fact my light radius disappears when i connect the entities. when i bsp and load it up in sof the light is non existant, like the value was set at 0 er something, anyone have any ideas. i tried with info_notnull as well and it didnt work.

any info would be greatly appreciated ,

btw photopaint the new GTKRadiant comes with all the q3map bsp's and the standard non q3 bsp's. now with me i just deleted all the q3 bsp's cause i cant see myself ever using them, plus your constricted in certain areas like lighting, plus it makes your bsp menu look cleaner  :;):

well scale and radius are normal key's for all lights but that doesnt make a light point to an area on the map. im sure im doing it right with the info null but i think im missing something.  yoo hoo ., spike.

HAHahaH spike you rock, ask and ye shall receive.

im using the newest GTK. hmm im alittle shady on the values.
I remember reading for the value you enter the targetname of the info null, where the #### would i find that, or am i way off.

anyway if i could see a screenshot im sure that would help, if not just describe for me how you normally do it. manually that is. im assuming something might be goofin up when i hit ctrl k so im gonna do all mine manually, only gotta do it once heheh.

man im gonna have to give spike co-authoring credits on my map for all the help :;):

ok just to specify

light
key: target
value: l1

info_null
key: targetname
value: l1

Are you sure you are using a strong enough light??

For example if you had a key light 600. this might be fine for normal lighting, but if you target it to the info_null that is xxx distance away you may not see it as strong as you thought.. or to put it another way it wont be as strong as a normal light entitie not targetted.

My advise is try something crazy like 4000 and then compile it. i think that will have the desired effect... it wont make a beam though.. Can somebody explain beams to me?? maybe there is a link to a tut or something...
