I was wondering if it was possible to control how large an area a sound is broadcast to when using a target_speaker that is triggered but a trigger_mulitple. The scenario is this....when someone enters a room they cross a trigger_multiple and and a soundfile plays but players all around that area and thru most of the map can hear it also. In sof2sdk rad I have the entity set to "activator" and not "global" and I have tried diff radius settings but no good. Any ideas on how to make it play only locally to that area or best would be to the player that triggered it like its supposed to be?

radius key should work, alternatevly you could just have a normal normal target_speaker with the radius the size of your room so ppl only hear it when they are in your room anyway

"classname" "target_speaker"
"noise" "sound/ambience/bla.wav"
"radius" "256"

Maybe.. but hopefully not... a stupid question.....and how large an area does a radius of 256 give you?

Errr....never mind....it was a stupid question....but it still doenst work like that for me....for a test I set my radius to 16 and I could still hear the sound when someone else triggered it and I was in another place 2 rooms over.

ohh sorry i thought you meant a sound file triggered but only heard in the room and nowhere elase, my misunderstanding :D

if the radius doent work when a sound is triggered then your outa luck :(. make sure your keys are correct  :(

what scenario are you trying to create, maybe there is another way around it

I have tried everything we have mentioned above....and you are correct in your initial assumption of what I am trying to do. I have created a test map with 4 small 14x14 buildings with a diff target_speaker and corresponding trigger_multiple for each. The naming scheme is all correct cause they all work as they should...I have the activator flag on but when testing with someone....he can hear the sounds I trigger when I am in one of the small buildings and he is in another and visa versa. I have tried diff radius like you said but still it seems to be somewhat a global sound.....arrrrrg..this is getting frustrating...just like mapping should be I guess. If you can think of another way around it I would appreciate any ideas you might want to share.
BTW....the original map has a church and when you walk in it has the voice (custom sound I made) of a preacher heard when you cross the threshold of the entrance...actual trigger is about 4 steps into the church.

Sounds to me like your using too big a radius.... When i used target_speaker once i had a radius of eight and i could here it a little way from my room.

Why dont you start small and work up?? Start on something like 1 or 2 and slowly increase till you get to the radius that works best. I dont the radius vaules equate to map units.
