AFAIR,

THeir aint no poly limit on models, only weapons. I remember when I was making the red dwarf mod, I has a model of blue midget. It has SO many polys, but it didnt complain.

Okay.  I wasn't totally sure.  Either way, making a whole map out of a model wouldn't be practical, and it just wouldn't be as good in the end as a normal brush-work map.

There is no poly limit on models, only on surfaces, which is 1024 IIRC. Thing is a model can be made up of a huge number of surfaces, so its not a problem if you divide up your model.
