Realistic physics. In Quake, you may be using improbable weapons, but they should behave - believably improbably? We have the processor power now to incorporate something like bullet drop and complex penetration in Single Player gameplay. I don't know about MP, but at least having the code there in Q4 would be awesome. Unlike other Quakes, we're not talking about an engine being built here - or so my understanding goes. The spectre of a Quake game licensing an engine feels wrong. Quake is segment-defining not because the games are any good - they aren't, or at least they haven't been - but because they lay a technological foundation for the future. I am sure Raven will do their customary sow's ear-silk purse job on working with the engine, but... something is wrong. |

I will have to disagree here. Quake is not about realistic bullet holes, ... Quake focuses on a good deathmatch experience, and not on a realistic sniperrifle where the bullet drops at 9,81m/sec(i think, physics goes way back ) and is also affected by the wind that is blowing at that moment. Imho Quake is more the Rambo Deathmatch experience, but not all the way (ala Serious Sam). I bought every quake, and each of them gave me a long replay period, and lots of fun. But I'd rather not see it turn into ultrarealistic combat. It will remove the fun of it. You got sof2 to experience that |

I'd like to see GHOUL technology used in Q4. Since the strogg are bio-mechanoid, gibs would be a mix of metal shards, broken tubes, muscle and blood. Have armor damage be more realistic. Steal the bot code from UT or improve on the Q3 code (In UT, the bots just go about their business without your input. They defend, attack and cover. In Q3, they just stand around waiting for you to tell them what to do) Also, It'd be cool to see your dead friends come back as stroggs, since they recycle human parts. And have a level in one of the strogg processing plants to see the way they put them together. |
