First I would like to thank modsonline for doing what you guys do!You have been very helpfull getting me started in mapping! The problem I have is lighting.No matter what I do,its bright,even inside buildings.I have scoured the forums and searched and searched,watched tutorials and read tutorials.I think I am missing something in my setup,(Shader images?)but I cant figure it out.When I texture the skybox it turns red and black,and when I test the clouds and everything show up fine.But its still bright!I made a small,quick map in hopes that you could help!Heres my compile...

There isn't any problem with your shaders or compile process. When you place a light, just press n to pull up the entities box, and in the key spot, type "light" (without the quotes) and in the value box, type in any number you want for the brightness of the light (the default is 300, far too bright in most situations)

Thanks Trigonous,but thats not it.I had tried adding lights,and with different values,but it looks the same either way.Heres a screenshot...

Hmmm... How are you doing your external lighting? Placing a light or editing the worldspawn values?

I'm actualy kinda stumped on this one[sad]

Your log output is only showing the first stage of bsp creation, there is still 2 more stages (vis data) and (flare light stage) to go.
In the flare stage you will get info on the world ambient settings and sunlight values etc etc. See if you can get those values.

A simple way the add world light and ambient settings is to load your .map file into and editor and look at the lines right up the top of the data, there should be worldspawn info there.

Here is one example from the map: Mp_Dawnville :

"northyaw" "90"

"ambient" ".18"
"sunlight" "2"
"suncolor" "1 .73 .42"

I checked the map file like you mentioned and my worldsawn values are there,I used the ones found here for mp_depot.I am baffled!

There is your problem, flare is not working and adding light values to your bsp.

If you are using the utility to compile your maps then make sure you do the Flare workaround option. The problem is Flare has a hardcoded path in it to look for files located in "C:\Program Files\game\uo\maps"

That did the trick!Thank you very,very much Grassy!You guys rock!I had tried two ways,one was following jdawgs tutorial using a bat file,and the other with coduomaker.I changed the flare under the options menu in coduomaker and it worked!Thanks again guys! [thumbs_up][wave]
