Both my son and I are comming along in our first little maps, they are looking great thanks to all of your help here. Now whether or not they will work or not will be another question later! : )

My son posed an intresting question about the windows that we are making however. We are using the clipper tool and brushes to make nice looking windows using the Austrian shop window textures, but we are not going through the trouble of making them breakable right now.
The question is, once the map is compiled and tested, will the players be able to shoot through them? The reason he asked this is, upon exploring the map of Foy he noticed that windows he remembers shooting through seem to be covered with a texture called "Portal No Draw" So we decided to come here and ask.

The common/portalnodraw texture belongs to the portal the mapper placed in the windowopening in the wall. You can check the portaltutorial from Wyatt Earp for more details.

If you want to use a window texture like austria/windows/workshopwindow2 (the one with the white edge), you need to use common/nodraw on the faces of the brush that you don't see ingame.
