Hello
I was wondering if in multiplayer, there is a way to make a custom animation, such as after the player reloads, he throws his gun up in the air and catches it, then can resume play.

Thanks!

Yes, it is possible. All you have to do is create new animation in Maya or MS3D then convert it to game, add anim to mod.csv and in final step add animation name to animtrees and playeranimscript.txt located in MP folder.

Even if you create the animation, I'm not sure you can convert it to the CoD4 engine.
I know there is a program, called TOXEC, that exports from obj to xmodel_export, but I can't remember if it exports animations too.
And even if it did, you would probably still need to reverse export that model in order to get the skeleton. And the viewhand model also, I think.

Sounds hard to make. Would blender 3 work for this?

Blender is free and possibly better that MS3D. However, I don't know if there are CoD4 plugins for it, especially for exporting animations.

But you can still create a model and export it to obj with Blender, then use TOXEC (aka The Obj to Xmodel Converter) to convert to xmodel_export, then use AssMan to convert it to a CoD4 xmodel.
Check out this site.

But again, I'm not sure about animations.

Sorry for the very late reply,
To prevent models from getting messed up, should i create a mod? Should i put the whole xmodel folder in it, and then use the asset manager to convert it?

Of course you should make a mod !
It is not advisable to replace stock files or else you might not be able to start the game.

However, I think you only need to convert the new assets (the things you added) not the whole folder.
