Rounding the corners of your brushes.
Bevels, by Darkone

Thanks to Darkone for the work put into this tutorial.

1. ok lets first start with making 2 blocks 128x128x256. place each one corner to corner as in the figure.

2. ok now make another 128x128x256 block and put it in the gap to make a 90 degree corner.

3. While still highlighted go up to the curve menu and choose curve/bevel.

4. it may not be the right angle so lets rotate it on the z axis till it fits right. see

now you should have a rounded corner for your room.

pretty simple huh?

lets take it a step further.

5. lets say the corner wasnt the top of the room, instead it was a platform.
well we need to have a cap on it right?
ok so lets add a cap to it.

while highlighed choose curve/cap/bevel.

uh oh, look like theres no top. well its there but the texture face is facing in instead of out.

6. ok simple fix, first highlight the brush, which it should be still.
notice how all 3 parts highlight at the same time?

lets fix this. while highlighted choose from the top menu "selection",then choose ungroup entity.

7. ok now deselect the brush, and reselect the top of the brush.

ok now u have just one piece right?

8. ok lets fix this wiremesh no texture look. choose curve/matrix/invert.

walla fixed. ok now you should have the texture on the top.

9. if the texture isnt seated correctly simply hold down the shift and ctrl key and tap N to cycle through the caps till u hit the right one. see the figure for final result.

ok thats it for this part of bevels, now onto the next part.

lets say you have used the example we just made and want to add a short wall around the top, we can do this

10. ok make a brush to cover the edge of both the straight blocks. see figure

11. now make the 128x128x32 square and choose curve/bevel.

12. now rotate it on the z axis till its set right.

13. now choose curve/thicken,and set it to 4 times.

14. now you have your wall. see the figure for final results.

not too bad huh?
