followed a tutorial i found here on how to get barrles to be on fire, followed to a 'T' and still didn't work. could anyone give a quick description or a link to a tutorial that explains it right.

Step 1) Pick a barrel prefab from the interactable objects folder.

Step 2) Add this entry to your mapname.gsc->

maps\mp\_explosive_barrels::main();

Step 3) Add these enties to your zone file->


rawfile,maps/mp/_explosive_barrels.gsc
xmodel,com_barrel_piece
xmodel,com_barrel_piece2
fx,props/barrel_ignite
fx,props/barrel_fire_top

Step 4) Compile your bsp.

Step 5) Build your fast file.

Other ways, you can place a script_model with whatever xmodel you want (I've been playing with the propane tank)
Add either one of these key/value combos ->

Targetname / Explodable_barrel

or

Script_noteworthy / Explodable_barrel.

The only problem with the script_models is they don't have player collision.

I had the same issue as you .

I found all you need to do is.

1 Add the prefab from the misc_models folder named:

com_barrel_fire.map

Add the following to your gsc file

main()
{
precacheFX();
ambientFX();
maps\mp\_load::main();
}

precacheFX()

{
level._effect["fire"] = loadfx ("fire/fire_barrel_fragm_a");

}


Seems to work for me [rocking]
