i was wondering if anyone knows how to make an enemy fall without you having to shoot it.

you see i have a lift that passes a trigger which removes the top of the lift shaft and theres an enemy which should (by the laws of physics fall down onto the top of the lift. But...
the monster doesn't fall unless i shoot him.

so if anyone understands my problem and has any ideas that could help i wud be very gratefull

thanx [smile]

Is he just hanging in mid-air?
make sure the model is not sticking in any other brushes.
make sure you don't have the key nodrop set on the model.

he's in a room above the lift shaft. Then when the floor of the room (top of the lift shaft) dissapears he doesn't fall?
I havn't set any keys on him. just placed him in the room. hes definitley not stuck in any brushes. could i make him appear at the top of the lift shaft wen i pass the trigger? that way i wudn't need the room or the floor to disapear.

try this.. not sure it will work without testing.

set him to nodrop.. but, then trigger him with the same thing that is triggering the brush to move out from under him. That should, in theory, cause him to drop and, since he is not on anything (it is now moved), he will continue to fall as you wanted.

then instead of having a trigger to move the floor have a func_remove linked to the brush that u want 2 disapear then link the func_remove to the trigger

i think thats right

I am saying that you should set the body to nodrop and trigger the body after the floor disappears. Then the body might fall.

When you hang a body from the ceiling and set it to nodrop.. it will stay there until you either hit it or trigger it.

That's what I remember.

What does he look like when he fails to fall? Is he in the default position used by the editor (arms out)? Or is it apparent that he has moved in some fashion?

I am betting it just lays there in mid-air.

I have seen the same problem with moveable items. I once made a platform held up on only one side with a bunch of smaller movable boxes. In reality it would have fallen right away, but I had to push it in some way to make it go.

Similar problem here. I figured that triggering it to drop would fix the problem.
