My radiant crashes on me once every 5-6 hours or so, it doesnt seem to be a direct result of anything just a random crash.

So my question is....

Is it just in radiants nature to crash every once and awhile, or with everything updated properly is it possible to stop the crashing 100%?

I am running a clean version of cod2 with the 1.2 patch ( I could not update my copied/playing version, so I had to update my mapping version too). On seperate drives.

My video card drivers are within 3-4 months old.

I have net. 3.0

Direct-x is up to date.

I was also wondering what the comp specs were to run this properly.... heres my specs..

AMD 64 athlon 3500+

939 socket Asus motherboard

200 gig Mem on 2 drives

2.5 gig RAM

G-force 6600 PCI express graphix card

Does it sound like my system would run RAdiant trouble free, or is there room for improvement?

Thanks again, Ta2dwitetrash.

You're running a much better PC than mine, and mine doesn't crash quite so often. However, with the adding of models and increasing the sophistication of your map, Radiant tends to use up a lot more virtual memory and other things of that nature. If you complicate the map, it will crash, so it would be wise to save as often as possible. However, I've never heard of Radiant randomly crashing with out reason. Make sure your drivers are up to date, that's the only advice I can give you with my insufficient experience.

mine was doing that too,i was loading xmodels and i found that sometimes if your trying to load them it will crash, i think that some are script models that are in the same xmodel folder,2nd is any progams that are running on your pc under the radiant could be using memory space. save often and change name though out your changes

I also have a lot of trouble with Radiant crashing, but most annoyingly is when I try to put a model into my map. I have never been able to get one in without it crashing, any ideas?

[casanova]sweet, I talked my wife into letting upgrade my comp to better use radiant ( this is before I read the posts above)

I got the 3800+

A new up-to date mother board

1 more gig of ram

7oo watt power supply ( had to upgrade for the newer graphics card)

geforce 8800 gtx card

and two 320 gig sata hard drives.

well if it helps I will let you know, becuase I will have ALL up to date drivers for everything after I reformat.

Now if my wife reads these posts and finds out i didnt need to spen all that , she is gonna kill me! so.....

Ill get back to ya[devilishgrin]

Yes, Radiant does tend to get a bit hung up when you add models, this is why as stated in the topic labeled "Helpful Hints", that you should wait until you're pretty much finished your map, and make adding models the last thing you do. Just make sure your drivers are all up to date and I'll look into it to see if there are any other fixes.
